Photo Review: Bob Marshall Wilderness

Here are my favorite photos from the last week in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in northern Montana (just south of Glacier National Park).

Spotted Sandpiper

Lichen

South Fork Flathead River

Meadow Creek Gorge (actually not in the Wilderness yet, but near the trailhead)

  1. Your lichen may be the “pixie cup” variety shown here http://wiseacre-gardens.com/moss/pixie-cup-lichen.jpg Lichens are fascinating combinations of algae and fungus living symbiotically. I have also always loved the beautiful structures of mosses.

Great pix as usual – it will be interesting to see if any of yr students at the next stop have similar natural styles or intriguing alternatives.
